About Oregon LGBTQ Youth & Family Resources

This website is a collaboration between Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN) and the Family Acceptance Project® (FAP) to increase family support for LGBTQ children and youth in Oregon to decrease health and mental health risks and to promote well-being. OFSN and FAP have been working together to build the capacity of diverse families to support and affirm their LGBTQ children and to increase parent peer support for parents, families and caregivers with LGBTQ children and youth with behavioral health, emotional and developmental needs. This website is part of a social media campaign to increase awareness of family rejecting and accepting behaviors that impact risk and well-being for LGBTQ young people. The website includes selected resources that provide services and support to reduce mental health risks and promote well-being for LGBTQ young people.

We are proud to work with the gifted multidisciplinary artist, Sam Kirk, to tell the story of how families can build healthy futures for LGBTQ children and youth and with Cathy Renna, LGBTQ communications pioneer.

We hope this website will motivate you to use these services and supports to increase connectedness in your family, to find support for yourself and your LGBTQ child and to learn about how you as a parent, caregiver, provider, educator or religious leader can make a critical difference to promote well-being for LGBTQ children and youth. We also hope it will encourage the development of more family-oriented services and supports to reduce mental health risks for LGBTQ young people and to help build welcoming communities. We are grateful to the Oregon Health Authority for supporting our work.
